Though consumption of alcohol is accepted globally, often people suffering from alcohol abuse prefer to get alcohol rehabilitation treatment in private. As the need of anonymous treatment has increased, many rehab centres have stepped into the domain of solving the issue of alcoholism with full secrecy of their client.

Apart from professionals, many individual groups have developed which cater to the need of alcoholics. These groups often conduct regular anonymous meetings for its members. The primary object of this treatment is not to give any technical advice but to make the alcoholics feel confident about their own issues. It is believed that if an alcoholic is uncomfortable with alcoholism, then it will become quite difficult for him to quit alcohol completely. A twelve step program, which is commonly used by most of the rehabilitation centres, can be very effective not only in case of alcohol abuse but from other types of addiction to drugs, gambling and even sex.

A century back, financially poor alcohol addicts would end up either in jai or at any government funded hospitals. Going to a psychiatrist or any private clinic was beyond their reach.

But now things have changed completely. With the advent of alcohol rehab centres, once can easily get treatment irrespective of the financial positions. And apart from getting good treatments, they can even apply for anonymous alcohol treatment, if they desire so.  Alcoholism is a progressive issue. It is not really very effective to reduce the amount of consumption of alcohol, thus it is very essential to stop alcohol completely to battle against alcoholism. Now days, we even have alcohol rehab facilities run by ex-alcoholics who have been through a lot in the past, but are now completely ready to share their knowledge and experience to reduce  alcoholism in the society.
